Embutidos Ibéricos

Posted on by David Navas

I love “Embutidos Ibéricos” - Spanish sausages - although I don’t eat them anymore.
One of my childhood strongest memories is watching the slaughter of a pig and the making of hundreds of different sausages using all the parts of the animal.

Sketch I made at the last "Fairfax sessions", an amazing cuban jazz concert at Draco Rosas's recording studio organized by Debbie Ohanian.

Michelle Fragoso at the piano, Hammadi Bayard at saxophone, Raul Pineda on drums and Jorge Sawa Perez on the bass.

This is the first test I made with Scratch Foam and acrylic paint. I am working on a children's picture book with my wife and I am looking for an old woodcut printing look.
The color is done with Photoshop.

A painting I made this weekend with Procreate on the iPad. I was trying so see how far I could get depicting a realistic still life. At some point I really needed more precise tools for detailing, like straight lines, lasso tools and quick masks. I guess I could have finish it with more details in Photoshop but I decided to leave it here. Procreate is a wonderful tool for plein air painting.

iPad live model sketches

Yesterday I went to the Los Feliz Drawing workshop and I sketched and painted with Procreate on my iPad. I really like the Procreate ink bleed brushes, they feel very natural and responsive. The 25-minute pose gave me some more time to paint in color.
